Break

I love any break we get from school.  It is a time to relax, an extra day to catch-up on work or just to sleep.  I love it.

SAT's

Woke up at around 6:30 today. Why you ask?  Well,  like the millions of kids that got up that early, today was SAT Day. Woke up, ate, and turned up at my testing center at around 7:30.  We started right on time, which was rather surprising, and I was hoping to be done by 12:30, which by chance I was!

As I was watched the sections of my booklet change numbers, I realized how all this seems somewhat unnecessary.  I understand that colleges need some sort of equal testing material for their applicants because each school is somewhat different, but I don't believe that the SAT is the way to go.  More and more colleges are beginning to shy away from SAT's scores altogether, and I'm willing to bet that in about 10 years, the SAT will no longer be used, just like after 2012, SAT II's will no longer be required by colleges.  A better system, one that does not require the student to take a 4 hour test that does not accurately measure his intelligence, but rather maybe some mandatory state class or something, should be seriously considered on the national level.

DECA?

So today I was at my Cathay Pacific Internship and we were waiting for the instructor to arrive. A bunch of interns and I  were hanging around talking about what we did over the weekend and this one guy says "Oh yea, mine was pretty busy cause of states."  And I'm like...."Are you in DECA?" and he's like "Yea, how'd you know?"

So then I tell him I'm in FBLA and we start talking about all the differences and stuff and it was a very nice and fulfilling conversation.  I learned about DECA from the point of view of a smaller school as compared to a powerhouse chapter like MVDECA.  But what was very strange was that I felt that I now shared something in common with this guy.  I don't really know the kids in my internship group and the fact that he was in a business club let me feel like I share something with him.  Even though there are differences between DECA and FBLA, they are both business. And when you're stuck in a group where no one really knows anything about business, it's nice to make friends with someone who knows something about it, whether in FBLA or DECA.

Its raining...=)

So we've entered the classic week  of the year, the week where it rains..non stop.  Not just a light bristle, but fullout pouring.  While I love this kind of weather, it has gotten me to appreciate my "rain gear" so to speak.

My 800 count"poofy" jacket comes very much in handy.  And while others may claim that their much thinner jacket is better, (cough cough), I still trust mine to be the best.  And I was very surprised that my shoes could withstand all those rivers that I stepped through on my way out of MV so I was happy that I didn't have to drench the water out of my socks, sort of....
And while people even dread looking outside their window on a day like that, I find it pleasantly relaxing.  No I don't like to Sing in the Rain, but it is nice to see the rain every once in a while, especially when we need the water very badly.

There's the age old question, "Would you rather spend a day at the beach or a day in the snow?"  I would probably pick a day in the snow......at least for now.
